Arsenal star admits he is heartbroken after injury setback

Tomas Rosicky reflects on his latest Arsenal injury setback

Tomas Rosicky has admitted that he has been left heartbroken by his latest injury setback for Arsenal.

The veteran midfielder made his first appearance of the season when he helped Arsenal beat Burnley 2-1 in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Emirates Stadium back in January.

However, Rosicky picked up a serious thigh injury during the game and is now facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The midfielder revealed his gratitude for the support he has received from Arsenal’s fans and vowed to play again for the Gunners amid speculation about his future at the club.

Rosicky told the Arsenal Weekly podcast: “It was unbelievable. I didn’t expect it.

“Since the moment I started to warm up it was exceptional and honestly I had tears in my eyes. After such a long time that I was out I started to warm up and the reception was unbelievable, I will never forget it.

“Obviously the worst thing is the feeling that I can’t give anything back at the moment – it’s frustrating.

“My relationship with the fans after 10 years was always great. I always played my heart out for them, they appreciated me and I appreciated them. It’s heartbreaking that I can’t give them anything back after the reception they prepared for me.

“But in life things will be thrown at you and you have to deal with it. You are defined by how you will deal with those things and I will deal with it. I will be back again.

“For a few days it was very hard for me to accept. I don’t know what more I could have done.

“But I have always come back from everything and I will come back again. I will not give up. Once more I have to find the strength to make it.”

Arsenal are currently gearing up for their FA Cup fifth-round clash against Hull City at Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
