Paul Merson states his prediction for Arsenal v Hull

Paul Merson is backing Arsenal to beat Hull City 3-0 in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday afternoon

Paul Merson is tipping Arsenal to ease to a comfortable 3-0 victory to book their place in the sixth round of the FA Cup on Saturday lunchtime.

The Gunners head into the game fresh from their dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Premier League leaders Leicester City last weekend.

Arsene Wenger’s men have been pitted against the Tigers for the third straight year as they bid to try and lift the FA Cup trophy for the third year running at Wembley in May.

And former Arsenal man Merson is fully expecting to see the north London side comfortably book their place in the sixth round of the tournament on Saturday.

Merson told Sky Sports: “Both clubs could take their eye off the ball here. Arsenal face Barcelona and Manchester United next while Hull City need to be back in the Premier League – there’s no point getting to the FA Cup final and then miss out on promotion.

“This looks a similar game to Arsenal’s fourth-round clash against Burnley – it’s a good draw for the Gunners. Hull really could do without this game.”

Arsenal, who finished third and won the FA Cup last season, will then turn their attentions to their crunch Champions League clash with Barcelona on Tuesday night, before they travel to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday 28 February.
