Gilberto Silva has warned Arsenal that they must beat Leicester City at Emirates Stadium if they want to keep their hopes of winning the Premier League title alive.

The Gunners host the high-flying Foxes in north London on Saturday lunchtime as they bid to reignite their title charge following their victory over Bournemouth last weekend.

Arsene Wenger’s men head into the game knowing that a win would move them to within two points of the leaders heading into the final 12 games of the season.

Gilberto was part of the Arsenal side who last won the league in the 2003-04 season, and the midfielder has stressed the importance of Sunday’s clash at The Emirates.

Speaking exclusively to 888sport, Gilberto said: “I think Arsenal can win the league but that depends how well they do in the crucial games.

“Leicester is one of them and from now on every point Arsenal drop will make Leicester believe more.

“Arsenal have not won the league in a long time but I believe they have a great chance this season.

“It’s important for Arsenal to have a very defensive mind considering what Leicester can do.

“They must mark well throughout the whole field from the guys up front to the midfield protecting the back four.

“They must close the space because we all know what a great job [Jamie] Vardy has done this season. That starts from the front and it is important to mark well as a team.”
