Arsene Wenger reacts to Mesut Ozil’s display in Bournemouth v Arsenal

Arsene Wenger was thrilled by Mesut Ozil's display for Arsenal against Bournemouth on Sunday

Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on Mesut Ozil for a “top, top, top” performance after the playmaker helped to inspire Arsenal to a 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Germany international was in fine form at the Vitality Stadium and fired home Arsenal’s first goal to give the Gunners the lead.

He was then involved in the build-up to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s strike as the north London side secured victory to move up to third place in the Premier League table.

And Wenger was delighted by the World Cup winner’s display after watching his side return to winning ways in the Premier League.

Speaking at his post-match news conference, Wenger said: “He has become a very important player. He has added a fighting attitude today. It was a top, top, top performance from him today.

“He scored with his right foot which is very interesting for us. If he scores with his right foot he will become even stronger.”

Arsenal now turn their attentions to next Sunday’s showdown with Leicester City at The Emirates.

The north London side head into the crunch clash five points behind Claudio Ranieri’s league leaders and knowing that a win would hoist them straight back into the running for the title.
