Arsene Wenger has said that he is 99 per cent sure that Arsenal will not be making any signings before Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Gunners have inevitably been linked with a host of players in recent weeks during the mid-season transfer window.

Edinson Cavani is one star name to have been touted as a potential target for the north London side in recent days.

However, speaking at a news conference at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground on Friday morning, Wenger played down the chances of any late transfer bids at Emirates Stadium.

Asked if he was 100 per cent sure Arsenal would not make any signings, Wenger said: “Well, 100 per cent is difficult to say, 99 per cent yes.

“But you know always anything can happen. Somebody can knock at your door.

“If Lionel Messi knocks at my door at ten to six tonight I will not say please go back to Barcelona…”

Arsenal are preparing for their FA Cup clash against Southampton at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night following their 2-1 FA Cup win over Burnley on Saturday.
