Avram Grant offers advice to Man United manager Louis van Gaal

Avram Grant tells Louis van Gaal to pay no attention to speculation surrounding his Man United future

Avram Grant has advised Louis van Gaal to ignore speculation surrounding his Manchester United future.

The Red Devils secured a morale-boosting 3-0 win against League One side Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday night to end a two-game losing run.

However, former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho continues to be linked with the Old Trafford role ahead of United’s Europa League clash against Danish side FC Midtjylland on Thursday night.

But former Blues boss Grant believes Premier League managers must be immune to speculation surrounding their futures at clubs given the fickle nature of football.

“It is part of the game. When you choose the manager, you need to choose manager who can deal with all these things,” Grant told Sky Sports.

“There is speculation after two games, there is speculation after six games. There is always speculation.

“You need to concentrate on your job whether the speculation is true or not true.”

The Red Devils lost 2-1 to Premier League strugglers Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last weekend to leave Van Gaal’s six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.
