Chelsea in talks to sell Eden Hazard to Real Madrid – report
Eden Hazard could be on his way to Real Madrid this summer for a fee as little as £20m, according to reports
Chelsea are in advanced talks to sell Eden Hazard to Real Madrid this summer and the deal could be concluded before the start of Euro 2016, according to reports.
The Belgian playmaker’s future is likely to be a source of relentless speculation in the coming months, especially if Chelsea – as expected – miss out on a place in next season’s Champions League.
Hazard, like many of his Chelsea team-mates, has struggled to produce consistent performances for the west London club and has long been touted as a transfer target for Real Madrid.
Now, Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda has claimed that Chelsea are prepared to sell the 25-year-old to Real Madrid for a fee as little as £20m.
Inda told El Chiringuito: “The signing of Hazard is very advanced and could arrive before the start of the tournament (Euro 2016). The price could be 25 million euros (£20m).
“[Roman] Abramovich is tired of it. The figure is put it in quarantine, but Mr Abramovich has plenty of money.”
The fresh report comes after Hazard recently admitted that he is a keen admirer of Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and hinted at his desire to play under the former midfielder.
Hazard told Belgian newspaper La Gazette: “It is always nice to hear that the player I admired during my childhood speaking about me.
“I have always appreciated Zidane. I know about him as a player but not so much as a coach, although he has been very successful debut at the Bernabeu. But I am still under contract at Chelsea and I feel fine.”
Hazard, who was the PFA player of the year last season, has only scored one goal for Chelsea so far this term.
He will be hoping to start when Chelsea host Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
