Michael Owen makes prediction about Chelsea v Man City
Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea's crunch FA Cup clash with Manchester City on Sunday
Michael Owen is expecting Chelsea’s FA Cup clash with Manchester City on Sunday to produce plenty of goals.
The west London side are preparing to host the Citizens at Stamford Bridge after they were beaten 2-1 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
City, by contrast, have had a full week off to prepare and come to terms with their disappointing 2-1 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League at the weekend.
Chelsea head into the game after having thrashed Newcastle United 5-1 in their most recent top-flight outing.
And former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Owen is expecting to see lots of goals when City and Chelsea do battle in west London on Sunday afternoon in the FA Cup fifth-round clash.
Writing in his blog for Bet Victor, Owen said: “Chelsea haven’t beaten City in the Cup for over 100 years and this promises to be the tie of the round.
“Manuel Pellegrini might make changes for Sunday’s game given his side play in Kiev in the Champions League on Wednesday, but they will still field a team full of internationals and this promises to be a fascinating game with more than its share of goals.”
Chelsea have shown signs of improvement since Guus Hiddink’s appointment as interim boss and their loss at PSG was their first defeat since his appointment in December.
