Andy Gray states his prediction for Chelsea v Newcastle

Andy Gray backs Chelsea to seal a comfortable win over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge on Saturday

Andy Gray is backing Chelsea to coast to a 3-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The Blues head into the game looking to return to winning ways after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

The west London side have been struggling to find consistent form in recent weeks and have only won three of their last 10 Premier League games despite showing signs of improvement under interim boss Guus Hiddink.

However, former Everton man Gray is expecting to see the home side claim a comfortable victory against the struggling Mapgies on Saturday.

Writing in his blog for Paddy Power, Gray said: “I know Chelsea are going to win this. Newcastle have been erratic, the home side are getting better.

“If they take their form in the second half against United into this game they’ll win comfortably.

“Newcastle have only scored six goals away from home all season, that’s the worst record in the division. They’ve conceded 26, over two a game. They won’t be able to change that this week.”

Chelsea, who won the Premier League and League Cup last season, are currently 13th in the table and look set to miss out on a top-four finish.

The Blues take on Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie next week.
