Danny Higginbotham makes claim about Man United’s season on Twitter
Danny Higginbotham assesses Manchester United's chances of qualifying for next season's Champions League
Danny Higginbotham has taken to social media to claim that Manchester United’s best chance of qualifying for the Champions League will come through the Europa League.
The Red Devils slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat by Sunderland on Saturday lunchtime to further dent their hopes of securing a top-four finish this season.
Their loss at the Stadium of Light left Louis van Gaal’s men fifth in the Premier League table and six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City heading into the final 12 games of the season.
With United facing an uphill struggle to finish in the top four this season, their best chance of reaching Europe’s elite club competition could be winning the Europa League.
And Higginbotham feels that the Red Devils should try to concentrate on progressing in the Europa League to boost their chances of reaching next season’s Europa League.
The former Stoke City defender tweeted on Sunday evening:
Even after today's results Manchester United best chance of Champions League football will be winning the Europa League in my opinion
