Former Liverpool manager issues rallying cry ahead of Man City final

Roy Evans is hoping Liverpool can secure the League Cup trophy on Sunday afternoon

Roy Evans has issued a Liverpool rallying cry ahead of Sunday’s League Cup final against Manchester City.

The former Liverpool manager guided the Merseyside outfit to League Cup glory in 1995 when the eight-time winners secured a 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers at Wembley.

The Reds have won three of their last four games against the Citizens in all competitions ahead of the Capital One Cup showpiece.

Former Liverpool boss Evans, who stood down in 1998 and was replaced by Gerard Houllier, sent a message to the 18-time English champions via Twitter.

Liverpool are bidding to win the League Cup for a record ninth time.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side won the Capital One Cup in 2014 thanks to a 3-1 win against Sunderland.
