Gary Lineker trolls Liverpool and Man United after Europa League draw

Gary Lineker takes to Twitter after Man United are drawn against Liverpool in Europa League last 16

Gary Lineker couldn’t resist a dig at the expense of Liverpool and Manchester United after the Premier League rivals were pitted together in the Europa League last-16 draw.

The Reds were the first of the Premier League clubs to secure their place in Friday’s draw after a 1-0 win aggregate win against Augsburg in the second leg at Anfield on Thursday evening.

Louis van Gaal’s United side had to come from behind to secure a 5-1 win against FC Midtjylland at Old Trafford after a 2-1 first-leg defeat in Denmark earlier this month.

While both clubs are off the pace in the race to secure a spot in next season’s top four, the Europa League threw up a glamour tie when Liverpool were drawn against United on Friday afternoon.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Lineker wasted no time posting a joke which highlighted the demise of England’s most-successful two clubs after the Europa League last-16 draw.
