Glenn Hoddle sends warning to Chelsea star Eden Hazard

Glenn Hoddle discusses Eden Hazard's stuttering form for Chelsea this season

Glenn Hoddle has told Eden Hazard to focus on performing for Chelsea and forget about the speculation surrounding his future.

The Belgian playmaker has struggled to find consistent form for the west London club so far this season and produced a subdued performance for the Blues during the 2-1 Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.

Hazard has been linked with a transfer away from Chelsea in the summer and sparked fresh speculation about his future earlier this week by admitting that he would find it hard to turn down a move to PSG.

The 25-year-old, who was the PFA player of the year last season, has only scored one goal for the west London club so far this season.

And Hoddle feels that the former Lille star should concentrate on his performances for Chelsea in the coming weeks and forget about everything else.

Speaking on ITV on Wednesday night, Hoddle said: “At the end of the day for me, there’s something there. Having signed a five-and-a-half year deal a year ago… if he wants to go back to a league and to a club that wins the league by 30 points each year, he’s not testing himself as a player. That’s what disappoints me.

“He’s got to knuckle down and play well for Chelsea this year, that’s who’s paying his money now.

“He’s a top player… last year he was exquisite at times, he probably won the league in the first half of last season for Chelsea, and he’s nowhere near that at the moment.”

Hazard will be hoping to feature when Chelsea host Manchester City in the FA Cup on Sunday.
