Glenn Hoddle: Why this man should be Chelsea’s next manager
Glenn Hoddle feels Ronald Koeman is a serious candidate to take over at Chelsea at the end of the season
Glenn Hoddle believes that Chelsea should consider appointing Ronald Koeman as their new manager in the summer.
The speculation about who could take charge at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season has been gathering pace in recent weeks, with Guus Hiddink set to leave the west London club at the end of the season.
Manuel Pellegrini, who recently revealed that he is set to leave Manchester City in the summer, has been touted as a possible candidate to take charge.
But former England boss Hodgson reckons that Chelsea should consider making a move for Southampton boss Koeman.
Speaking on BT Sport after Chelsea’s goalless draw with Watford on Wednesday night, Hoddle said: “On a football front, I would probably go for Koeman. He’s been excellent.
“Southampton fans won’t like me for saying that, but Koeman, with better tools, I think he would be one on the radar.”
Wednesday’s draw left Chelsea in 13th place in the Premier League table as they turn their attentions to Sunday’s crunch clash with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea face Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League later this month.
