Graeme Souness fires warning at Arsenal ahead of Leicester clash

Graeme Souness is yet to be convinced by Arsenal this season...

Graeme Souness has questioned whether Arsenal have the mental strength needed to win the Premier League title this season.

The north London side are currently third in the table and trail leaders Leicester City by five points heading into Sunday’s crunch clash with the Foxes at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph back in the 2003-04 season.

And former Liverpool man Souness admits that he is yet to be convinced by Arsene Wenger’s men this season.

Souness told Sky Sports: “They got away with it against Bournemouth last weekend, and they need to step it up a gear to get back to how they were playing earlier this season.

“Arsene Wenger commented on the lack of confidence prior to the game at the Vitality Stadium, but I’m sorry, the big players he’s got should be helping out the rest of the team.

“Do Arsenal have enough of these players to see them through the sticky spells? On past history, you’d have to say the answer is no, and that could be their undoing again.

“They don’t have enough mettle in their team.”

Arsenal know that victory over the Foxes on Sunday would move them two points behind the leaders heading into the final 12 games of the season.
