Guus Hiddink reacts to Eden Hazard’s performance in PSG v Chelsea
Guus Hiddink has his say on Eden Hazard's performance for Chelsea during their 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain
Guus Hiddink has insisted that he was pleased with Eden Hazard’s performance during Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Belgian playmaker started the game and featured for 71 minutes at Parc des Princes as the Blues were beaten in the first leg of their last-16 tie in the French capital.
Hazard has struggled to produce consistent performances all season and has been linked with a transfer away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.
However, the interim Chelsea manager insists that he was satisfied with the PFA player of the year’s performance in the game, despite him having failed to make a telling impact in the game.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Hiddink said: “He was a threat going forward. He had some good runs.
“This was a game with a high intensity and after 65 or 70 minutes it was enough. He will be better and better.”
Hazard has scored just one goal for Chelsea in all competitions so far this season.
The former Lille star has been touted as a transfer target for both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in recent months.
