Hiddink gives latest Chelsea injury update ahead of Man United clash
Guus Hiddink delivers the latest Chelsea team news ahead of the Blues' clash with Manchester United on Sunday night
Guus Hiddink has revealed that Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao are the only absentees due to injury as Chelsea prepare to welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Falcao has been out of action since October due to injury, while Remy is in line to make his comeback from a minor problem next week.
Hiddink also revealed that winger Pedro is on course to be available against the Red Devils after he picked up a minor groin injury in recent days.
“The squad is looking OK after the midweek game,” Hiddink said at a news conference on Friday. “The players have come back in and they seem to be very fit except for Falcao and Remy.
“Pedro was not in but he trained this morning and we will see how he will react. I don’t think there will be big problems. Remy will be involved next week.”
The Chelsea boss, speaking at his pre-match news conference at the club’s Cobham training ground on Friday afternoon, also revealed that new signing Alexandre Pato will not be available for selection for Sunday’s clash as the Brazilian continues to work on his fitness levels.
“Pato is in his pre-season,” he said. “We have made a training plan, which he is doing now. Most days he is training twice so he is getting his fitness but not full fitness.
“He needs to be fine tuned but we made a good plan. He will not be in the the next few games.”
Chelsea head into Sunday’s game in 13th place in the Premier League table after they were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Watford on Wednesday night.
