Jack Wilshere aiming to return in time for this crunch Arsenal game
Jack Wilshere delivers that latest injury update as the Arsenal midfielder closes in on a return to action
Jack Wilshere is hopeful that he could make his return to the Arsenal first-team in time for the Gunners’ crunch Champions League trip to Barcelona on 16 March.
The Arsenal midfielder has been out of action since the start of the season after undergoing surgery on a broken leg back in August.
Wilshere has been working hard on his fitness in recent weeks and is now believed to be around three to four weeks away from making his return to action for the north London club.
And the England international has revealed how he is trying to make sure he is fit in time for the return leg of Arsenal’s Champions League last-16 clash with Barcelona at Camp Nou next month.
Speaking on BT Sport on Saturday morning, Wilshere said: “It is possible [to be back in time for the Barcelona away leg].
“It’s difficult to get back. The Premier League gets quicker and quicker. I know I’m not old but it’s different to when I was 19. So it take a little bit more time.
“But I’m trying – I’m training, I’m running and hopefully I will be there.”
Arsenal are currently gearing up for the first leg of their Champions League showdown against Barcelona at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
