Jack Wilshere makes big claim about Tottenham ahead of Arsenal clash
Jack Wilshere looks ahead to Arsenal's crunch north London derby clash with Tottenham on 5 March
Jack Wilshere has warned Arsenal that they are set to come up against the best Tottenham team he can remember in next month’s north London derby at White Hart Lane.
Both Arsenal and Spurs currently sit two points behind Premier League leaders Leicester City in the table heading into the final 12 games of the season.
This is probably the best Tottenham team we’ve ever come up against
Tottenham are being touted as genuine contenders for the Premier League title this season and underlined their top-flight credentials with an impressive 2-1 win at Manchester City last weekend.
Wilshere, who has been out of action for the whole season after undergoing ankle surgery back in August, will be hoping to return before the game at White Hart Lane.
And the 24-year-old midfielder admits that the game on 5 March is shaping up to be the most important north London derby he can remember.
Asked if there has been a bigger north London derby, Wilshere told BT Sport on Saturday afternoon: “I don’t think there is. I can’t remember one, I’m only 24 but I still can’t remember one.
“This is probably the best Tottenham team we’ve ever come up against and [it is] arguably the best team we’ve had in many years so it’s going to be a good game.”
Arsenal and Tottenham played out a 1-1 draw in the Premier League at Emirates Stadium back in November.
