Jack Wilshere insists that he still considers Arsenal to be the favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners underlined their credentials as genuine contenders for the top-flight crown this term when they came from behind to seal a dramatic 2-1 win over Leicester City at Emirates Stadium last weekend.

That result left Arsene Wenger’s men third in the Premier League table and two points behind leaders Leicester heading into the final 12 games of the campaign.

Arsenal are looking to win their first title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.

The Gunners’ bitter local rivals Tottenham are currently above Arsenal on goal difference in the table and were in impressive form as they beat Manchester City 2-1 at Etihad Stadium last weekend.

However, Wilshere still feels that Arsenal, who travel to Manchester United next weekend, are the favourites to win the trophy this season.

Wilshere told BT Sport on Saturday morning: “I think Sunday was massive for us (beating Leicester).

“Eight points down would have been a long way back. People are saying are Leicester going to do it, go the whole way? But they beat Manchester City, then came here and gave us a really good game, so we have to take them seriously,”

“I still think in my head we are favourites but with that comes pressure. So whether we feel that or not is the question.”
