John Aldridge: Liverpool must fix this problem now
John Aldridge wants to see Liverpool improve their attacking from set-pieces...
John Aldridge has told Liverpool that they must improve their attacking from corners in the coming weeks.
The Reds have not scored from a corner since the start of December and their lack of goals from set-pieces is concerning former Liverpool man Aldridge.
Writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo, Aldridge said: “A dozen corners, eight in the first half alone. And what did they produce? The sum total of nothing.
“I’ve been saying this all season, how can we not sort out or delivery from set pieces?
“This is my SOS call to Jurgen and co, it needs fixing. We haven’t scored off a corner since Southampton at the start of December – and even that was a cleared cross which was sent back in.
“It’s gone on long enough now, sort it out please!”
Liverpool are currently preparing for their home clash with Sunderland in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday afternoon as they look to return to winning ways following their defeat by Leicester in midweek.
Their 2-0 loss at the King Power Stadium left Jurgen Klopp’s men in eighth place in the Premier League table heading into the final 14 games of the season.
The Merseyside outfit, who will face Manchester City in the League Cup final at Wembley, travel to West Ham United for their FA Cup fourth-round replay next week after their goalless draw at Anfield last month.
