Jose Mourinho to Man United: Manager breaks silence amid Old Trafford link
Jose Mourinho breaks his silence amid reports he could be appointed as Manchester United's next manager
Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is not looking for a new job – but revealed that a number of clubs are pursuing him.
The Portuguese coach has been heavily linked with a move to take over at Manchester United at the end of the season following the increasing speculation surrounding Louis van Gaal’s future at Old Trafford.
I’m not looking for a club, but there are clubs that are looking for me
Mourinho, 53, has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea back in December following the west London club’s disastrous start to the Premier League season.
Van Gaal has found himself under intense pressure at United in recent weeks following United’s stuttering form, and the Dutchman watched his side slump to back to back defeats by Sunderland and Mdtjylland this week.
However, Mourinho has moved to insist that he is not actively looking for a new job at present.
Speaking to La Stampa, Mourinho said: “My next club? I really do not know, but one thing is certain – I love football and I will return with the same passion and ambition I’ve always had.
“Right now, I have respect for every coach at every club. I’m not looking for a club, but there are clubs that are looking for me.”
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague on Friday revealed that there is currently no agreement in place for Mourinho to take over at Old Trafford.
