Juan Mata sends message to Kurt Zouma after Chelsea star’s injury blow
Juan Mata pays tribute to Kurt Zouma after the Chelsea defender suffered a knee injury against Manchester United
Juan Mata has sent his best wishes to Kurt Zouma after the Chelsea defender suffered a knee injury during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The defender was substituted in the second half of the Premier League draw after landing awkwardly and over-extending his knee.
Mata was near Zouma when he suffered the injury, and the centre-half appeared to be in serious pain as he was carried off on a stretcher following lengthy treatment on the pitch.
He was later pictured walking on crutches as Chelsea wait to learn the extent of the injury setback.
Mata took the time to mention Zouma in his weekly blog post, and is hoping that the Frenchman makes a swift recovery.
Mata wrote on his blog on Kicca: “I don’t want to forget about Kurt Zouma’s injury, I was very close to him when it happened.
“He left the pitch on a stretcher and screaming in pain and I hope it’s not a very serious injury and he can be back on the pitch as soon as possible…”
Mata and his Manchester United team-mates are now preparing for their Premier League trip to Sunderland on Saturday as they look to return to winning ways.
