Jon Flanagan says life playing under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is “full throttle”.

The Reds defender made his long-awaited comeback from a knee injury in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Exeter City in the FA Cup in January.

Flanagan made his second appearance of the season in the Merseyside outfit’s League Cup first leg semi-final clash against Stoke City and completed 105 minutes of the Anfield tie in January.

The 23-year-old full-back broke into the Liverpool first-team under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers before he suffered a serious knee injury in the summer of 2014.

However, Flanagan, who has made 45 appearances in all competitions for the Reds, lifted the lid on the former Borussia Dortmund coach’s management style.

Flanagan told Liverpool Echo: “He is brilliant, he is full throttle. He is a genuine guy and his training is great each day and as you have seen on the sideline he is a bit crazy.

“He has got a great sense of humour and the two lads he has brought with him.

“It is great for us lads to have a laugh, but when it is serious, it is serious.”

Flanagan ended a 619-day stretch on the sidelines when he played in Liverpool’s FA Cup third-round replay at Anfield last month.
