Jurgen Klopp reacts to Liverpool’s 2-0 loss to Leicester

Jurgen Klopp admits he was disappointed by Liverpool's performance against Leicester City

Jurgen Klopp could not hide his disappointment after Liverpool slumped to a 2-0 defeat by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.

Jamie Vardy opened the scoring with a contender for goal of the season when he volleyed home from 25 yards in the 60th minute.

And the in-form striker then made it 2-0 when he turned home Shinji Okazaki’s deflected shot from close range in the 71st minute.

Asked to reflect on his side’s performance against the Foxes, Klopp clearly felt that his team are capable of better performances.

Klopp told BBC Sport: “I’m not too fine with our game today. We could have played much better.

“We had a few shots where we could pass and a few passes where we could shoot. We created half chances but not real chances.

“It was a world-class goal from Jamie Vardy. Today would have been a good day to show we are ready for this. I need a few more seconds to calm down. I have to watch it again.”

The result kept Leicester three points clear of second-placed Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table heading into the final 14 games of the season.

Liverpool, meanwhile, dropped down to eighth place and nine points adrift of the top four.
