Van Gaal delivers latest Man United injury update after Europa League loss
Louis van Gaal delivers the latest Manchester United injury update concerning David De Gea
Manchester United are waiting to discover the seriousness of David De Gea’s injury after the goalkeeper pulled up in the warm-up ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League loss at Midtjylland.
The shot-stopper was hurt in the build-up to the game and missed out, with second-choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero called on to take his place.
Speaking after the disappointing 2-1 defeat in Denmark, United boss Louis van Gaal revealed his frustration at seeing his side suffer another injury to a key player.
Van Gaal told BT Sport after the game: “It happened in the warm up.
“We have to wait and see for the scan tomorrow, then maybe we can say more but it was a big surprise.”
De Gea has been a regular fixture in the Manchester United first team this season and has made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils.
The Spaniard was originally named in the starting line-up for Thursday’s game but was replaced by Romero before kick-off.
United now turn their attentions towards their FA Cup fifth-round trip to Shrewsbury Town on Monday night.
