Latest Man United injury update: Van Gaal’s team news ahead of Arsenal clash
Louis van Gaal delivers the latest Manchester United injury update and team news ahead of Sunday's clash with Arsenal
Louis van Gaal is hopeful that David De Gea could return in goal for Manchester United when the Red Devils host Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils goalkeeper has been out of action since suffering an injury during the warm-up of the Europa League first leg tie away to Midtjylland earlier this month.
De Gea sat out the wins over Shrewsbury Town and Midtjylland last week, but United boss Van Gaal said that the Spaniard could return for Sunday’s crunch clash with the Gunners.
Van Gaal told a news conference before Sunday’s game: “I expect [David can return] because I saw the way he was today. Chris [Smalling] is a question mark, but you never know.
The Red Devils boss also admitted that the club are waiting to discover the seriousness of Anthony Martial’s injury setback after he too was injured in the warm-up on Thursday night.
The United boss continued: “I don’t know because it has happened before the match. I’ve talked with him. I have talked with the physiotherapist that already had control of him. I cannot say, but it is not as heavy as everybody thinks, but you never know.”
