Jamie Redknapp states his prediction for Liverpool v Man City
Jamie Redknapp looks ahead to the League Cup final between Liverpool and Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday
Jamie Redknapp is tipping Liverpool to secure their first piece of silverware under Jurgen Klopp when they take on Manchester City in Sunday’s League Cup final at Wembley.
The Reds head into the game after having secured their place in the last 16 of the Europa League thanks to a 1-0 win over Augsburg at Anfield on Thursday night.
Liverpool have failed to find consistent form since Klopp’s appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor at Anfield back in October.
The Merseyside outfit are currently nine points adrift of the top four in the Premier League heading into the final 12 games of the season.
However, former Liverpool man Redknapp is hoping to see his old club lift the trophy by beating Manuel Pellegrini’s men in north London.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning, Redknapp said: “I can see a draw maybe after 90 minutes, and then it’s almost a case of flipping a coin.
“But I’m obviously going to lean towards Liverpool, my old team. I’ve just got that feeling about the Jurgen Klopp feel-good factor and that he could be lifting it at the end of the game.”
Manchester City warmed up for the game with a 3-1 Champions League win at Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday night.
