Louis Saha has challenged Memphis Depay to be more consistent for Manchester United.

The Netherlands international produced an impressive performance in the Red Devils’s 5-1 victory over FC Midtjylland in the second leg of their Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday night.

Memphis capped an improved display for the 20-time English champions with his fifth goal in Europe this season in the final minute at Old Trafford.

However, former United striker Saha said that the Dutch winger needs to prove that he can produce influential performances in bigger games for Louis van Gaal’s side.

“He has the dribbling skills. He needs consistency,” Saha told ITV Sport.

“He needs to prove that he can do it in the last third when the team is not playing well. He showed that he can produce good moments.”

Memphis moved to United in a £25m deal from Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven in May 2015 ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Dutch star opted to link up with his former Netherlands head coach ahead of a potential move to Liverpool.
