Luis Suarez responds to talk of Liverpool return
Luis Suarez says he would only consider joining Liverpool if he were to seal a transfer back to the Premier League
Luis Suarez says that he would only consider joining Liverpool if he were to secure a move back to the Premier League in the future.
The Uruguay international joined Barcelona from the Reds in the summer of 2014 after spending three and a half years on Merseyside with the Reds.
The 29-year-old insists that he is happy with life at Barcelona but refused to rule out a potential transfer back to Anfield in the future.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Suarez said: “I’d prefer to stay here for many more years. I know it doesn’t always turn out that way.
“But if I had to return to the Premier League, I would only go to Liverpool. I wouldn’t go to another team.
“It wouldn’t be a move for money. I’d also love to play again for Ajax as they allowed me to develop as a player in Europe.”
Suarez has scored 20 goals and made six assists in 21 La Liga games for Barcelona so far this season.
He has also netted five times in the Champions League and will be expecting to line up against Arsenal in Europe’s elite club competition later this month.
Attacker Suarez, who has 82 Uruguay caps to his name, scored 69 Premier League goals in 110 games for the Reds between January 2011 and the summer of 2014.
