Michael Owen states his prediction for Man City v Tottenham
Michael Owen is expecting to see Manchester City return to winning ways against Tottenham
Michael Owen is backing Manchester City to edge to a 2-1 victory over Tottenham in Sunday’s crunch Premier League clash at Etihad Stadium.
Spurs head into the game in fine form and fresh from their 1-0 win over Watford at White Hart Lane last weekend.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been touted as genuine title contenders in recent weeks after they moved above local rivals Arsenal and up to second place in the table.
City, meanwhile, are looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Leicester last weekend.
That result left Manuel Pellegrini’s men in fifth place in the table and six points behind the high-flying Foxes.
However, former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Owen is expecting to see City return to winning ways with a narrow victory over the Lilywhites this weekend.
Writing in his column for Colossus Bets, Owen said: “If Arsenal v Leicester is the big Premier League game of the weekend, then Man City v Tottenham isn’t far off in terms of importance.
“And, like the Arsenal match, none of the outcomes would really surprise me, given Tottenham’s recent run of form and the fact that they did a job on City when beating them 4-1 at White Hart Lane in September.
“City are a frustrating side, in that they have so much talent that you really think they should be strolling home in this league.
“An incoming Pep Guardiola or not, you would hope that Pellegrini would get a reaction after that loss to Leicester though, and I can see them just having enough to see off Tottenham 2-1.”
Tottenham finished fifth last season under Pochettino.
