Man United legend David Beckham: Why I want to see Jose Mourinho back in England
Manchester United legend David Beckham discusses Jose Mourinho's sacking by Chelsea
David Beckham says it would be beneficial for the Premier League for Jose Mourinho to be in charge of an English club amid the speculation linking the Portuguese coach to Manchester United.
Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea in December after a disastrous start to the season left the Blues languishing closer to the relegation zone than the top of the table.
United manager Louis van Gaal has faced relentless speculation about his future following his side’s stuttering form this season, with the Red Devils currently languishing in fifth place in the table and six points adrift of the top four.
Mourinho has been touted as a possible candidate to take over from Van Gaal should he leave United in the summer.
And former Red Devils midfielder Beckham admits that he is a keen admirer of the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Beckham said: “Jose leaving Chelsea, who would have expected that after the season they had last year?
“It doesn’t make him a bad manager. He is still one of the best managers and I hope he comes back to the Premier League as soon as possible.
“The Premier League is the Premier League for the great players we bring in, the great teams, the money, the fans and the great characters that we have as managers. You want to see managers like that in the game.”
