Matteo Darmian has taken to social media to reveal that he is closing in on a return from injury as Manchester United prepare to host Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

The Italian defender has been sidelined with a dislocated should but has been working on his fitness in recent weeks as he bids to make his return to Louis van Gaal’s first team.

Darmian has been a regular fixture on the United first-team since his transfer to Old Trafford from Torino during the summer transfer window.

United host Arsenal in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

And the defender used his personal Instagram account to deliver a positive update on his recovery on Wednesday morning.

Darmian shared the picture above and wrote: “On the road back to training!! – @manchesterunited”

Darmian has made 21 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils so far this season following his summer switch to the club from Torino.
