Man United star delivers timely injury boost ahead of Arsenal clash
Bastian Schweinsteiger is hoping to be back in action in the coming weeks for Manchester United
Bastian Schweinsteiger has revealed that he is finally closing in on a return to action for Manchester United.
The German midfielder has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury during the 1-0 FA Cup win over Sheffield United at Old Trafford back in January.
It was initially hoped that Schweinsteiger would not be out for long but the 31-year-old midfielder has not featured since 9 January for Louis van Gaal’s men.
United are preparing to host Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, and although that game will come too soon for the World Cup winner, Schweinsteiger is hoping to make his return in the coming weeks.
Schweinsteiger is quoted as saying by Metro: “A medial ligament tear takes time, but everything is healing well. I know my body, everything will be OK.
“In about five days, I’ll begin to start running again and five days after that I should be training with a ball again. I should be completely back on board in March.
“Unless the European Championships is suddenly brought forward to the start of March, then it looks good.”
The midfielder has been a regular fixture in the United side since joining from Bayern Munich last summer.
He has scored one goal in 17 Premier League games so far this term for the club and also featured six times in the Champions League.
