Glenn Hoddle explains what Arsenal must do to beat Manchester United on Sunday afternoon

Glenn Hoddle has told Arsenal that they will have to be “ruthless” if they want to keep their Premier League title bid on track by beating Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Gunners head to Old Trafford looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 2-0 loss to Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek.

United, meanwhile, were 5-1 winners over FC Midtjylland in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Arsenal were 3-0 winners when the two sides last met in the Premier League at The Emirates back in October.

And former Tottenham boss Hoddle says that Arsenal must go all out for the win as they look to close the gap to the Premier League leaders Leicester back down to two points with victory.

Hoddle wrote in his column for the Daily Mail: “Arsenal have to be ruthless at Old Trafford. Despite the 5-1 win against Midtjylland, everyone knows United are vulnerable, so Arsenal cannot approach the game with any degree of trepidation.

“They should simply be thinking that this is a team in fifth place and 10 points behind them. And it is an excellent opportunity to put some distance between themselves and Manchester City.

“They need to be clinical and they need the win to start asserting themselves in this title race. This time last year Chelsea changed their style, shut down their flourishes and ensured they did enough to pick up win after win. Arsenal need something similar.

“The team which adapts to that mode at this crucial stage will be champions.”
