Michael Owen is tipping Manchester United to hold Arsenal to a 1-1 draw in their Premier League showdown at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners head into the game looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 2-0 loss to Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Arsene Wenger’s men were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Hull City in the FA Cup last weekend following their dramatic 2-1 Premier League win over Leicester City before that.

United, meanwhile, returned to winning ways on Monday night domestically with a 3-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Former United and Arsenal striker Owen feels that Sunday’s game is winnable for the Red Devils – but is backing it to end in a draw.

Writing in his column for Colossus Bets, Owen said: “Every match is vital at this stage of the season, and that is certainly the case for Louis van Gaal and Man United, and title favourites Arsenal.

“For all United’s trials and tribulations this season – and there have been many, including a 3-0 loss at Arsenal in October – it is a surprising statistic to see that they have only conceded five goals in 12 home games, which is the best defensive record in the league. And Monday’s 3-0 win at Shrewsbury in the FA Cup was much-needed.

“I know they have their problems and are missing Wayne Rooney and a whole raft of players, but I think that they could deny the Gunners a vital three points and I go for 1-1.

“Arsenal certainly won’t be facing the attacking flair that they did against Barca in a 2-0 defeat at The Emirates on Tuesday night but they have been generally struggling in front of goal themselves, too, as evidenced by their weekend 0-0 home draw against Hull in the Cup.”
