Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Chelsea v Man United
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Manchester United's trip to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday
Mark Lawrenson is expecting to see Manchester United hold Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in Sunday’s crunch Premier League clash.
The Red Devils head to west London looking to build on their impressive 3-0 win over Stoke City at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
Chelsea, meanwhile, warmed up for the game with a disappointing goalless draw at Watford on Wednesday night to leave them in 13th place in the Premier League table.
And former Liverpool man Lawrenson is expecting Sunday’s showdown at Stamford Bridge to finish all square, with United likely to adopt a defensive approach to the game against the defending champions.
Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “Whatever the Dutch is for bus, I think Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will park it at Stamford Bridge on Sunday because this is a game he will not want to lose.
“Chelsea seem to find it hard to break down teams who make it difficult for them, and United will definitely look to do that.
“Eden Hazard will start, which will make a difference, and the Blues will continue to climb up the table, but this game has got a draw written all over it.”
United finished fourth in Louis van Gaal’s first season in charge but were dumped out of the Champions League in the group stage in December.
Chelsea won the Premier League and League Cup but their disastrous start to this season resulted in Jose Mourinho’s sacking.
