Mark Lawrenson is backing Manchester United to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Stoke City at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils have struggled to find consistent form in the Premier League in recent weeks and head into this game five points adrift of the top four.

United booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Friday night thanks to a 3-1 win over Derby County.

But Louis van Gaal’s men have still only won two of their last 10 Premier League games after a miserable run of form in the top flight.

However, former Liverpool man Lawrenson feels that the Red Devils will have too much for the Potters when they travel to Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “Stoke still have elements of the ‘old Stoke’ in that they are difficult to play against, but they clearly have some extremely skilful players too.

“They showed that when they turned Manchester United over at the Britannia Stadium over Christmas but I am expecting a much better display from Louis van Gaal’s side this time around.

“United dealt with Derby quite comfortably in their FA Cup tie on Friday night, and always looked in control of that game.”
