Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Leicester v Liverpool
Mark Lawrenson warns Liverpool to expect a tough game against Leicester City on Tuesday night
Mark Lawrenson has warned Liverpool to expect a tough game against Leicester City at King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Reds travel to the Premier League leaders fresh from a goalless draw with West Ham United in the FA Cup fourth round at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool won their first Premier League game of 2016 at Carrow Road in late January after Adam Lallana’s added-time strike sealed a 5-4 win.
Leicester, meanwhile, have only lost two games in the Premier League so far this season and were 3-0 winners against Stoke City in their latest outing.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson warned Klopp’s players that Leicester will prove difficult opponents for the 18-time English champions.
“Next up in the Premier League is a trip to Leicester and it will be tough,” Lawrenson wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.
“The big thing for me with Leicester was over the festive period they went to Tottenham and won.
“I thought that was their biggest result of the season. That just announced to everybody that they weren’t on the slide and were very competitive for the rest of the season.
“They didn’t have an FA Cup fixture this weekend so they’ll be absolutely raring to go having had a few days off to get over the knocks, scrapes and sprains.”
Liverpool were 1-0 winners against the Foxes earlier this season thanks to Christian Benteke’s second-half winner.
The Reds have already lost to West Ham and Manchester United in the Premier League in 2016
