Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Tottenham v Watford

Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Tottenham's clash with Watford at White Hart Lane on Saturday

Mark Lawrenson is tipping Tottenham to ease to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Watford at White Hart Lane in Saturday’s Premier League clash.

The Lilywhites head into the game looking to build on their impressive 3-0 win at Norwich City in midweek.

That result allowed Spurs to leapfrog their bitter local rivals Arsenal up into third place in the Premier League table heading into the final 14 games of the season.

The north London side are being touted as potential genuine contenders for the title this season following their recent run of good form.

And former Liverpool man Lawrenson is expecting to see Spurs claim all three points against the Hornets on Saturday afternoon.

Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “After losing four league games in a row at the start of the year, Watford have started to pick up again.

“Tottenham are absolutely flying, though. Along with West Ham they have taken 13 points from their last six games, making them the form teams in the top flight.

“With Jan Vertonghen sidelined, how Kevin Wimmer and Toby Alderweireld cope with Hornets strikers Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo will play a big part in deciding the outcome.

“But I am going to back Spurs to pick up another three points.”

Tottenham are currently in third place and five points behind leaders Leicester City heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.
