Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Man United v Arsenal
Mark Lawrenson is backing Arsenal to beat Manchester United on Sunday
Arsenal are more than capable of winning at Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, according to Mark Lawrenson.
The Red Devils bounced back from successive defeats earlier this month thanks to a 3-0 win against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup on Monday followed by Thursday night’s 5-1 Europa League victory over FC Midtjylland.
A bad result here will not help his cause and Arsenal are more than capable of winning at Old Trafford
Arsenal, on the other hand, were left frustrated on Tuesday night after failing to take their chances in a 2-0 loss to Barcelona in the Champions League last 16.
However, former Liverpool defender Lawrenson is still marking the north London side as favourites to beat United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
“We are at the stage where it is not a case of if Van Gaal loses his job, but when,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“A bad result here will not help his cause and Arsenal are more than capable of winning at Old Trafford.
“The Gunners played well against Barcelona but lost out to a team with the best front three I have ever seen.
“United’s attack does not quite carry the same threat, does it?”
Arsenal are in third place in the Premier League table and two points behind leaders Leicester City.
The Red Devils are in fifth place and six points behind bitter rivals Manchester City, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying spot.
The 20-time English champions are being heavily linked with Jose Mourinho.
