Matteo Darmian was thrilled to help Manchester United beat Stoke City on Tuesday night

Matteo Darmian has taken to social media to reveal his delight at making his return from injury to help Manchester United beat Stoke City on Tuesday night.

The defender, who joined United from Torino during the summer transfer window, played the full 90 minutes as the Red Devils returned to winning ways in front of their home fans at Old Trafford.

Goals from Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney wrapped up the three points for Louis van Gaal’s men as they kept to within five points of the top four heading into the final 14 games of the season.

And Darmian, who had been missing from recent games due to injury, was delighted to play his part in United’s Premier League win on Tuesday.

The Italian shared the photo above on his personal Instagram account and wrote: “Happy to be back on field with @manchesterunited, great performance and win!”
