Michael Owen is tipping Liverpool’s home clash with Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday to be a low-scoring affair.

The Reds welcome the Black Cats to Merseyside looking to return to winning ways in the top flight after the disappointment of their 2-0 defeat by Premier League leaders Leicester City on Tuesday night.

Liverpool have struggled to find consistent form this season since Jurgen Klopp’s appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October.

They head into Saturday’s game in eighth place in the Premier League table and nine points adrift of the top four with 14 games left to play this term.

Former Liverpool and England striker Owen is expecting to see the Reds claim victory but is also tipping Saturday’s game to be a cagey affair.

Writing in his column for Bet Victor, Owen said: “Liverpool disappointed at the King Power but Sunderland should prove a much easier task and the Reds can bounce back to winning ways on home soil at Anfield.

“Jurgen Klopp’s side have won five of their last six games against Sunderland, drawing the other, and should prove too strong for a vulnerable Black Cats’ defence.

“Sam Allardyce’s side will no doubt be difficult to break down in the final third with the visitors likely to play with two backs of four and the ‘Under Goals’ bets appeals at 11/10 instead of Liverpool’s win price of 4/9.”
