Mohamed Elneny explains Arsenal absence on Twitter
Mohamed Elneny missed Arsenal's game against Bournemouth on Sunday after his partner gave birth
Mohamed Elneny has revealed that he missed Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon because his partner had given birth shortly before the game.
Elneny, who joined the north London side from FC Basel during the January transfer window, was not named in the club’s matchday squad for their clash at the Vitality Stadium.
Now, it has emerged that the Egypt international midfielder missed the game due to personal reasons.
Elneny tweeted on Sunday morning before Arsenal’s win:
New baby thanks allah

Goals from Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain handed Arsenal a comfortable 2-0 victory against the Cherries as they now turn their attentions to their Premier League showdown with leaders Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.
Mathieu Flamini started as Arsenal’s holding midfielder in last weekend’s game but it remains to be seen if Arsene Wenger will opt to bring back Francis Coquelin against the Foxes following his injury lay-off – or call on new signing Elneny.
Arsenal are currently five points behind Leicester.
