Nigel Winterburn has jokingly ruled Tottenham Hotspur out of the Premier League title race.

Spurs have been one of the top-flight’s most consistent teams this season and head into this weekend’s round of fixtures in second place in the Premier League table and just two points behind leaders Leicester with 12 games to go.

Arsenal are currently level on points with their bitter local rivals as they gear up for their important trip to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Tottenham have underlined their title credentials with their consistent form in recent weeks and secured an impressive 2-1 win over Manchester City at Etihad Stadium in their most recent Premier League outing.

However, former Arsenal star Winterburn is not even considering the prospect of Spurs winning the title ahead of Arsenal this season.

Asked if he can see Tottenham winning the title this season, Winterburn told Play with a Legend: “Definitely not.”

Winterburn did admit that he is a little concerned about Spurs’ form, however, as he continued: “Tottenham are a team that worry me because the stats point to them having a very successful season.”
