Mark Lawrenson is backing Chelsea to continue their recent improvement in form by beating Norwich City 2-0 at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.

The Blues continued their good form as they came from a goal down to beat Southampton 2-1 at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.

That win left Guus Hiddink’s men in 11th place in the Premier League table and 11 points adrift of the top four heading into the final 11 games of the season.

And former Liverpool man Lawrenson is expecting a straightforward affair for the Blues against the Canaries in midweek.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “I don’t think it will work if Norwich try to sit back and play the same way they did against Leicester, but this is going to be a very difficult game for Alex Neil’s side, however they approach it.

“The Canaries have got some lively front players but when I watched them against Leicester they did not look like they were going to score.

“Chelsea’s good run continued against Southampton and they are clearly going to keep on climbing the table. I can only see them winning at Carrow Road.”

Chelsea have struggled to find consistent form all season but are unbeaten in the Premier League since Hiddink’s appointment as Jose Mourinho’s successor until the end of the season back in December.

The Blues won the Premier League and League Cup under Mourinho last term but their dismal start to the campaign resulted in his sacking.
