Paul Ince says Manchester United have no chance of winning the Premier League title and could miss out on a top-four finish.

United manager Louis van Gaal claimed that his Red Devils side are playing like champions earlier this week after a three-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.

The 20-time English champions are 12 points ahead of current Premier League leaders Leicester City ahead of their clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to BT Sport, former United midfielder Ince rubbished talk of Van Gaal’s side winning their first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson stood down as manager in 2013.

“There is a bit of kidology going on with the media,” Ince said.

“He is trying to get his players upbeat and make them believe they can win the title.

“I don’t think they have a cat in hell chance of winning the title. If they can rescue fourth spot [that would be good], but even that is going to be difficult.

“Playing like champions? Absolutely not.”

United are in fifth place and seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City ahead of their clash against the Black Cats in Saturday’s early kick-off.
