Paul Merson makes big claim about Tottenham and Arsenal

Paul Merson says Tottenham are better placed to win the Premier League than Arsenal this season

Paul Merson has claimed that Tottenham are bigger favourites to win the Premier League title this season than Arsenal.

Spurs have earned plenty of admirers for their impressive form in recent weeks and moved up to second place in the table thanks to their victory over Watford on Saturday afternoon.

The Lilywhites are currently five points behind leaders Leicester City.

Arsenal have been struggling for form in recent weeks after dropping down from top spot in the Premier League table.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are being touted by many as genuine contenders for the title this season – and former Arsenal man Merson is placing the Lilywhites ahead of the Gunners in the running for the top-flight crown.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon, Merson said: “Before, everyone was talking about Man City but now, suddenly, we’re worrying about Tottenham.

“If you asked me today, Tottenham are bigger favourites than Arsenal for me, no question.”
