Paul Merson makes bold claim about Tottenham’s title chances

Paul Merson admits his concern about Tottenham's impressive form this season

Paul Merson is convinced that Tottenham are the favourites to win the Premier League title this season ahead of Arsenal.

The Lilywhites have been in fine form so far this term and underlined their top-flight credentials with an impressive 2-1 win at Manchester City in their most recent top-flight outing.

Spurs are currently second in the table heading into Sunday’s clash with Swansea City at White Hart Lane.

And former Arsenal man Merson has reluctantly admitted that he is concerned about Spurs’ impressive form so far this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon, Merson said: “They’re favourites to win this league in my opinion.

“The fixtures they’ve got, the way they’re playing… They dismantled a team that are third in the Italian league the other night.

“Fair play to everybody, the whole group. It is worrying.”

Tottenham, who finished fifth under Mauricio Pochettino last season, have been paired against Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 of the Europa League after their triumph over Fiorentina in midweek.
