Paul Merson makes confident prediction about Man United v Arsenal

Paul Merson looks ahead to Arsenal's crunch Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday

Paul Merson is confidently backing Arsenal to claim victory over Manchester United in Sunday’s crunch clash at Old Trafford.

The north London side head into the game on the back of their disappointing 2-0 loss to Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Arsenal underlined their Premier League title credentials with a dramatic 2-1 win over Leicester City in their most recent outing to move them up to third place and two points behind the leaders with 12 games left to play.

United are currently struggling with a number of injuries to key players, with striker Anthony Martial the latest Red Devil to suffer a problem in the build-up to Sunday’s game.

And former Arsenal man Merson is fully expecting to see Arsenal claim the three points at Old Trafford this weekend.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning, Merson said: “I see them beating Manchester United.

“United have too many injuries for me, and I think Arsenal will definitely win this game.”

He added: “I wouldn’t say it’s title over [if Arsenal don’t win] but there’s a long way to go. It gets lively in the last seven games – they are completely different to the first 31.”
